The Abu Simbel temples are two massive rock temples in Abu Simbel in Nubia in southern Egypt. The twin temples were originally carved out of the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II in the 13th century BC. The complex had to be relocated because of the Aswan High Dam work or it would have been submerged in Lake Nasser. These temples are a must see on your Insight Vacations tour.
